Royals win in the bottom of the 7th in quite a pitchers duel. Bill Riggieri went the distance for the Royals, strikeout out 9, walking no one and scattering 7 hits to give up only 1 earned run. C. Rivera for the Wombats gave up only 2 runs over 6 strong innings and was absolutely throwing gas. The game was tied 2-2 going into the top of the 7th. The Wombats put runners on first and second, and F. Carabillo laced a single to center. The defensive wizard Joe “Junior” Antonelli threw home and Bill Riggieri cut it off to nab the runner at third trying to get back. In the bottom of the 7th, Chris Kelly, out of retirement in his first game of the season, was the catalyst. After walking, “Junior” Antonelli hit a hard grounder that was misplayed. Chris made a mad dash to third and was safe in a close play. Chris Kelly later snuck his hand in safely at home plate on a “not so” wild pitch to win the game and display more of his abilities in clutch situations. Also offensively for the Royals, Jordan Copes had a RBI single. Bill Riggieri scored and went 1-2. Dan Copes also went 1-2. For the Wombats, B. Turka reached base all three plate appearances including a double. Nate Luscombe also chipped in a double and scored a run. Joel Rosario 2-3 with a run scored.
