The GHIBL debut at Glastonbury High School was between the Wombats and Chiefs. Although the Wombats were 0-3 leading into the game, they could not be taken lightly by the Chiefs as each of their loses were one run games. In the first inning, the Chiefs had perfect execution, getting their lead off batter, Luke Sacharczyk, on base, advancing him by way of bunt and then looking for the RBI hit, which was delivered by Brian Peer.

As the game progressed, it appeared like neither Wombats starter, Chris Rivera, or Chiefs starter, Mike Angeli, would allow another run to cross the plate. The back-to-back of scoreless innings came to an end in the 7th, as Brian Peer worked a one out single and Steve Sadlak capitalized on his third at-bat of the season, scoring Brian from first with a towering double.

To secure the win for the Chiefs, Mike Angeli would need three outs in the bottom of the 7th. After getting the first out by way of strikeout, Randy Noack would step to the plate and begin the rally with a double. After Randy’s double, the Wombats would follow up with hits from Brian Smoliga, Chris Rivera and Jeremy Rosado to bring the victory home for the Wombats in the bottom of the 7th.

The Wombats will look to build off their momentum next week against the A&A Office Systems Phillies, while the Chiefs look to break their losing streak against the undefeated Hornets.
