Hornets vs Royals

The Rockville Royals bats stayed hot during the second game of the doubleheader against the Hornets, and won a slugfest 15-6.  For the Royals, Matt Garvais had a gutty performance on the mound, pitching 4 innings to secure the win.  Eric Rubelmann came in and closed out the game with a scoreless inning including two punchouts.  Offensively, Josh Svoboda hit two doubles and added 2 RBI, 3 runs scored, and a stolen base.  Rich Hilton went 2-3 with 2 RBI contributing to a great overall performance for the doubleheader.  Matt Garvais helped his own cause reaching base all three plate appearances and adding a run.  Scott Clouser added two runs scored and a RBI.  Carl Guglietta added a timely 2 RBI single with the bases loaded.  Jay Botti reached base in all three attempts and added 2 runs scored and a RBI.  Matt Eliseo scored two runs, while Eric Rubelmann contributed 2 RBI with a run scored.  Jesse Wilkinson has carried his solid start into the hot summer months, going 1-2 with a run scored and a walk.

Royals vs Hornets

Rockville Royals defeat the Hornets 14-0 in 5 innings.  The Royals put forth a dominate performance behind the pitching of Bill Riggieri, and contributions throughout the lineup offensively.  Bill Riggieiri threw a 1 hit shutout striking out 9 and did not yield any walks.  At the plate for the Royals, there were several key contributors.  Bill Riggieri helped out his own cause going 2-2 with a double, two runs scored, a RBI and a stolen base.  Rich Hilton reached base all three plate appearances and added two runs scored and a RBI, continuing to compile impressive numbers in one of the best years of his long GHIBL career.  Scott Clouser went 1-1 with 2 RBI.  Tim Field hit a mammoth 2 RBI double ending the day with 3 RBI and two runs scored.  Joe “Junior” Antonelli went 2-3 with 2 RBI.  Carl Guglietta added 2 RBI as well.  Jesse Wilkinson reached base all three times and added a run and a RBI.  Jay Botti went 1-2 with a double and a RBI.

Rockville Royals vs Phillies

The Rockville Royals defeated the Phillies 11-1 after 6 innings.  While the Royals hitting was firing on all cylinders, Rockville’s pitching was also solid.  Bill Riggieri went 4 strong innings in his start, striking out 11 while only giving up 3 hits and no free passes.  Mike Cookson finished the Phillies off with 2 hitless innings with 3 punchouts against only one walk.  Offensively, several Royals contributed heavily.  Josh Svoboda had two big doubles plating 3.  Bill Riggieri reached base 4 out of 5 plate appearances, including a double, a stolen base, 2 runs and a RBI.  Tim Field filled up the stat sheet with 2 free passes, a hit, a run scored and flashed his versatility with two stolen bases.  Curtis Anthony went 2-3 with 2 RBI.  Jay Botti went 2-3 with two runs scored.  For the Phillies, Nico Priscopo went 1-2 with a RBI.  Dan Cummings went 1-2 with a run scored and a stolen base.  Zach Locke also went 1-2.
